Launched just months before Election Day, Saint Paul Mayor Kaohly Her’s 2025 campaign engaged Kickstart to design and execute a citywide digital advertising program focused on awareness, persuasion, and voter mobilization in a competitive race with the incumbent.

 

Working within a compressed timeline, our team guided the development of bold, issue-driven creative and deployed precision-targeted paid media across Meta, YouTube, Google, and programmatic platforms. The strategy was designed to complement a highly targeted field operation, ensuring digital messaging reinforced on-the-ground organizing and reached persuadable and turnout-priority voters at scale.

 

Kickstart provided ongoing performance monitoring and detailed weekly reporting, continuously refining audience targeting, creative rotation, and budget allocation to maximize impact in the final weeks of the campaign. The coordinated digital and field strategy contributed to a historic and consequential victory for Mayor Her in a closely watched race. 

Ben for Minnesota

Ben Schierer launched his campaign for Minnesota State Auditor in September of 2025 with the help of Kickstart Strategies. Through strategic advisory, building a brand, and a launch plan that included earned media and social media, we successfully launched the campaign and began highlighting Schierer’s profile as a rural progressive and highly successful former Mayor of Fergus Falls.  

 

In the months between launch and the DFL State Convention, Kickstart maintained Schierer’s social media presence with consistent content including videos on concrete accomplishments and future plans for the State Auditor’s Office. These tactics stood out in a crowded DFL field in both putting forth policies AND engagement on social media. With thoughtful, planned content, Kickstart took the social channels from inactive to consistent, engaging content generating exponential growth for the campaign and several videos garnering over 10,000 impressions each.

Minnesota Secretary of State – Here We Vote Campaign

Digital Strategy, Rapid Deployment, Data-driven Targeting, Multi-channel Activation, Priority Audience Activation 

In partnership with the Minnesota Secretary of State and Magnitude of Change, our team supported the 2024 Here We Vote campaign to increase voter participation—particularly among low-information and historically underrepresented voters, including low-income residents, young people, communities of color, and rural communities.   

 

With less than three weeks before Election Day, we implemented a data-driven, multi-channel digital strategy targeting historically low-turnout counties and priority ZIP codes. Paid placements across YouTube, social media, paid search, display, and digital out-of-home were designed to reduce barriers to participation and drive traffic to mnvotes.gov.  

 

The campaign delivered strong performance results, including a 99% video completion rate in low-turnout counties, significant engagement lift in targeted rural ZIP codes, and broad statewide digital reach. Five historically low-turnout counties demonstrated increased voter participation compared to the previous election, correlated with the campaign’s targeted activation efforts.    

 

Minnesota ultimately retained its position as the highest voter turnout state in the nation, achieving 76.41% participation.
